Adelaide Street flowers
20 March 2017
The heatwave killed the trees in the new planter boxes in Adelaide Street.
“The young trees struggled in the drought conditions,” City Precinct Development Portfolio Councillor Daniel Sanderson said.
“New trees will be planted when the weather cools down. To give the new trees a better chance of survival, the soil will be removed and insulation installed to help keep the roots cool.
“While we wait for it to cool down Council has planted flowers which create some colour to keep the streetscape vibrant. Plants also have a calming effect on the streetsacape.
“The flowering plants will stay as ground covers when the new trees are planted.”
