Direct Flights to Melbourne with Jetgo
14 June 2017
Direct flights between Hervey Bay and Melbourne will start next month (Friday, July 21).
Fraser Coast Mayor Chris Loft has confirmed that Australian company Jetgo will launch a twice weekly service flying from Hervey Bay to Essendon using the 37 and 44 seat Embraer Regional Jets.
Initially the twice weekly service will fly on Sundays and Fridays.
Flights will depart Hervey Bay at 11.10am and arrive at Essendon at 1.40pm and depart Essendon at 2.10pm and arrive in Hervey Bay at 4.40pm.
The average one way fares will be around $300 with introductory specials from $248 with flights on sale now via Jetgo’s website www.jetgo.com.
The flights will operate to Melbourne’s iconic Essendon Airport which is close to the Melbourne CBD, congestion free, $8 per day car parking and within minutes of one of Melbourne’s best shopping precincts.
Jetgo will also launch services between Hervey Bay and Brisbane, with one return flight being offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Cr Loft welcomed Jetgo to the region.
“The service will open this region to new market opportunities, especially for those seeking shorter breaks, as well as bring an air of confidence,” he said.
“Jetgo has a number of regional routes and this will open up those regions to the Fraser Coast as a tourist destination,” he said.
Cr Loft recognised the support of locals in bringing Jetgo to the region.
“This would not have happened without Robbie Braddock, owner of Bay2Dore, continually lobbying Jetgo for over the past two years and urging people to sign petitions or Facebook campaigns to show their support for the service.”
Jetgo prided itself in developing innovative regional routes, Jetgo Managing Director Airlines Paul Bredereck, said.
“We are continually looking at new routes and services and responding to passenger demand,” he said.
“Our fleet of smaller fast jet aircraft allows us to open up thinner point to point markets, and respond to changing passenger demands.”
Jetgo currently flies from Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Townsville, Rockhampton, Dubbo and Wagga Wagga and Albury.
