Leading cyber security expert to visit Fraser Coast

Fraser Coast Regional Council will welcome one of Australia's top cyber security experts, Professor William J (Bill) Caelli, AO, to the region in June. Details are in the attached media release.

Fraser Coast Regional Council will welcome one of Australia’s top cyber security experts, Professor William J (Bill) Caelli, AO, to the region in June.
 
Innovation, Aviation and Communication Councillor Paul Truscott said Fraser Coast people would have several opportunities to hear Professor Caelli speak during his visit: 
 
June 27, 6.30am – Chamber of Commerce Breakfast in Hervey Bay
June 27, 6.30pm – Tech Talk, University of Sunshine Coast’s Fraser Coast campus, Hervey Bay
June 28, 10am to noon – Special Education Session for Businesses, Maryborough Library
June 28, 5pm to 7pm –  Special Education Session for Businesses, Hervey Bay Library
 
Cr Truscott said Professor Caelli is an Emeritus Professor of the Queensland University of Technology and an Adjunct Professor at Griffith University.
 
He has extensive experience in the Information and Communications Technology (ITC) industries with more than 53 year’s industry, entrepreneurial, research and education experience, of which over 43 years have been in cybersecurity in Australia and overseas. 
 
Professor Caelli’s interests lie in areas of cryptology and its application, trusted systems and networks and management/policy/legal aspects of information security as well as cyber-conflict studies.
 
He received the William Hugh Murray Founders' Award from the USA’s Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education (CISSE) for his outstanding contribution to information assurance education. In 2017 he received the CISSE Founders’ Medal.  
 
Professor Caelli has published extensively and been a consultant nationally and internationally, including participating with Rand Corporation activities in the USA and Sparkasse Information Zentrum in Germany.
