Several coastal communities lie along the mainland shore adding charm and variety to a region rich in cultural and natural beauty.
Ten Councillors and a Mayor sit on the Fraser Coast Regional Council, which was formed in March 2008 and incorporates the former city councils of Maryborough and Hervey Bay and the former shires of Tiaro and Woocoo.
