Crime Action Plan adopted
19 September 2012
The Fraser Coast Crime Action Plan 2012-13 was adopted by Council today (September 19).
“The plan is a joint initiative of Council, chambers of commerce and the Hervey Bay and Maryborough state members,” Fraser Coast Mayor Gerard O’Connell said.
“It sets out the roles and responsibilities of each sector in our effort to improve safety across the Fraser Coast.
“We all have a role to play.”
Under the plan the state members will push for extra police to be stationed here; all licensed premises will be encouraged to sign up to the Liquor Accord; and police encouraged to continue ‘blitz’ campaigns targeting property crime and drug use.
“Now that the plan has been endorsed we can move forward,” Cr O’Connell said.
“State and federal governments, business and the community can see where we are headed and hopefully they will join in and support the initiatives.”
