Local History Local History


Local history rooms are located at the Hervey Bay and Maryborough library branches.

Microfiche and microfilm readers, computers are printers are also available for use.

If you need assistance with family history enquiries, please speak to our Library staff.

Local History talks

Held on the second Friday of the month from 12 noon to 1pm at the Maryborough Library (e-Space).

A variety of guest speakers present informative sessions about the rich heritage of the Fraser Coast.

Historypin Chat Group

Held at the Maryborough Library (e-Space) on the first Tuesday of the month from 12 to 1pm. 

Bring photos along to scan and share ideas with other local history enthusiasts. Computers and scanning equipment are available.

Fraser Coast Libraries local history collection

Fraser Coast Libraries hold a number of local history collections including: images, printed material, maps and plans, manuscripts and archives, newspapers, vertical file, audio-visual, microforms and computerised records.

Historypin

Historypin is a digital archive of historical and personal photos, documents and audio-visual recollections. 

Council in partnership with the Maryborough Wide Bay and Burnett Historical Society Inc has a curated collection - World War One Patriotism in the Wide Bay region.

The State Library of Queensland provided the grant to curate this collection.

Moonaboola collection

Indigenous resources available at the Maryborough Library including: teaching guides, Butchulla language books and hotlists of online resources.

Picture Fraser Coast

Picture Fraser Coast is a project to digitise heritage photographs and documentation related to the Fraser Coast since settlement.

V Gallery is Fraser Coast Libraries image display system. Local history images are displayed and can be accessed from your home device 24/7 if it is connected to the internet. We are adding images to this collection all the time.
