In October, 2015, Council adopted the Hervey Bay Esplanade Tourist Precinct Master Plan which included high level master plans for each of the four high profile tourist precincts within Hervey Bay, including Pialba. Key actions identified in the Pialba Precinct included, but were not necessarily limited to, the adventure playground, skatepark and enhancements to the stage area.
Tract Consultants were then commissioned to work with Council to prepare a detailed Master Plan for the Precinct and the final report for this Plan was received in September, 2016.
The Pialba Adventure Playground project was submitted as one of the 29 projects submitted to the State Government’s Works for Queensland funding program and a budget of $900,000 has been approved by the State Government for the project. As part of the Works for Queensland program, the project is required to be delivered by November, 2017.

As part of the detailed master plan process a number of sites within the Pialba Precinct were considered. The outcomes of the site selection investigations resulted in the selection of site 1 for a number of reasons including but not necessarily limited to
- proximity to WetSide;
- impressive gateway to the precinct;
- free from vegetation;
- visible from Main Street; and
- the ability for the oval to still cater for events.
However, at a Council meeting held on Wednesday, 14 June 2017 Council considered a resoultion put foward and resolved to locate the Pialba Adventure Playground west of the All Abilities Playground at site 2.
