NATURAL ... DYNAMIC ... HEALTHY... SMART

Our Vision: "A lifestyle for everyone"

The Fraser Coast Regional Council's Corporate Plan 2009 - 2013 outlines how Council will achieve this vision by sustaining our unique natural environment, building a dynamic region, maintaining a healthy community and establishing a smart customer-orientated organisation.

The Fraser Coast is the gateway to the World Heritage listed Fraser Island, the Great Sandy Strait and the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef.  It includes the popular tourism centre of Hervey Bay and the heritage city of Maryborough with its major manufacturing and engineering operations. The country areas include Tiaro, Howard and Torbanlea. Several coastal communities lie along the mainland shore adding charm and variety to a region rich in cultural and natural beauty.

Ten Councillors and a Mayor sit on the Fraser Coast Regional Council, which was formed in March 2008 and incorporates the former city councils of Maryborough and Hervey Bay and the former shires of Tiaro and Woocoo.

The Fraser Coast Regional Council’s main administration centres are in Hervey Bay and Maryborough with a smaller centre servicing Tiaro.

The region covers an area of 7,125 sq km - from the Gunalda Range to the south, past Howard on the Bruce Highway to the north, east to Fraser Island and west to near Biggenden and has population of more than 92,000 residents.
