Vegetation Removal on the Fraser Coast

19 October 2011   Recent amendments to the Hervey Bay Planning Scheme have altered the way that vegetation removal is assessed in Hervey Bay.

The aim of the amendments has been to clarify the requirements that apply in different situation and to assist with the removal of vegetation that is a risk to people and/or property.

Vegetation removal requires a code assessable development application except where the clearing activity meets certain criteria for self assessment, such as where the clearing is within an approved building footprint.  For the complete list of criteria where vegetation clearing is self assessable (and not requiring a development application) please click here.

Council has also developed a fast track system for vegetation removal in the Tiaro Planning Scheme area where the removal is related to the safety of people and/or property.  This same system will be rolled out for the Maryborough Planning Scheme area later this year.

Information on vegetation protection and vegetation removal on the Fraser Coast, including in Maryborough, Tiaro and Woocoo planning scheme areas is also available.
