Community Consultation - Esplanade Precincts
Status: Closed Friday 12 June 2011
Community feedback is being analysed and summarised. It will then be presented to Council.
Background:
Council asked residents for feedback on a proposal to install speed control devices and improve pedestrian crossings on the Charlton Esplanade at Hervey Bay.
Under the proposal which is now on public exhibition, Council intends to create precincts along the Esplanade to denote Urangan, Torquay, Scarness and Pialba.
The aim is to improve traffic flow, parking and pedestrian access while encouraging residents to use the Esplanade as a recreation and tourist area rather than a main east-west thoroughfare.
Following the analysis of residents’ feedback a final proposal will be submitted for consideration in Council’s Ten-Year Capital Works Program. Council will also apply for state and federal government grants to complete the projects.
Written submissions on the Esplanade Precincts closed on Friday 17 June.
