Executive Team Executive Team

The Executive Management Team, currently comprising the Chief Executive Officer and two Directors, provides advice to Council and is responsible for co-ordinating the day-to-day management of the region.  The Team monitors and facilitates the implementation of service delivery and major projects.
 

Lisa Desmond, Chief Executive Officer

The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for managing the region in an effective and efficient manner within available resources and ensuring Council is open and accessible to the community.

Lisa Desmond is a qualified accountant and holds Bachelor and Masters degrees in business and commerce.  She has more than 14 years experience in local government across New South Wales, the Northern Territory and Queensland. 
 

Peter Smith, Director - Community & Development

The role of Community & Development Services is to provide facilities and programs for healthy, sustainable and diverse communities and encourage continued responsible and sustainable growth, ensuring harmony between the built and natural environments and maintaining the liveability of the region. 

Peter Smith holds a Bachelor of Business and is currently undertaking a Masters in Project Management.  He has been employed in local government for 28 years including a variety of positions at Brisbane and Maryborough Councils.
 

Wayne Sweeney, Director - Infrastructure & Environment

The Infrastructure and Environmental Services Directorate is responsible for the design and implementation of roads, drainage and infrastructure projects in the region as well as planning, constructing, delivering and maintaining the region's assets and infrastructure to meet the requirements of a developing community.

Wayne Sweeney holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), and Graduate Diplomas in Municipal Engineering and Management (Technology Management).  Wayne has worked in local government for 21 years including 8 years as Director of former Maryborough City Council's Department of Engineering.

 

Alexis Hill, Director - Organisational Services

Organisational Services is responsible for providing a smart, sustainable and customer focused organisation, through a highly skilled and motivated workforce. Through the areas of People Development, Information Management, Corporate Business and Financial Services this vision is achieved.

Alexis Hill holds a Bachelor of Business and she has 10 years experience in both Local Government and the private sector across New South Wales and Queensland.
