Membership                                                                                                               

Community Membership

Adults
Membership is available to permanent residents, ratepayers, students and employees working within the area covered by the Fraser Coast Regional Council.  To join the library, you must present identification showing your current Fraser Coast address.  This can be either:
• a driver's licence with a current address in the region or
• two forms of identification with at least one showing a current address in the region

Juniors
Membership is available to persons under 16 years of age who have a parent/guardian who is a permanent resident, ratepayer of the Fraser Coast region.  The following conditions apply:
• a parent/guardian must sign as a guarantor
• parents/guardians must present a Medicare card, showing their name and the child's name, to be able   to sign as a guarantor
• grandparents cannot register this grandchildren unless they are the child's legal guardians

Visitor Membership
Visitors to the Fraser Coast region are able to register as borrowers with the following conditions:
• provision of proof of identification
• provision of home residential address
• payment of non-refundable fee for visitors from outside Queensland

USQ Membership
Available to all currently enrolled USQ students/staff.
• students to provide proof of current enrolment
• the USQ collection is not available for loan to students/staff of other universities.
Institution / Corporate Membership
Available to an institution or incorporated community organisation that is located and operates in the region.

Housebound Membership
Available to a person who has a short-term or long-term disability that seriously impairs the person's physical access to the Fraser Coast Regional Libraries.

Loan Limits & Periods

Loan Limits

Adult members
20 items per member with a limit of 10 DVDs per member
15 of the items may be USQ resources
4 of the items may be toys (Hervey Bay only)

Junior members
20 items per member with a limit of 10 DVDs per member
No USQ items may be borrowed

Visitors
10 items per member with a limit of 10 DVDs per member
4 of the items may be toys (Hervey Bay only)
No USQ items may be borrowed

USQ Students/Staff
20 items per member with a limit of 10 DVDs per member
15 USQ items may be borrowed
USQ resources must be borrowed and returned at the Hervey Bay branch of the library.  There is no inter-branch borrowing with USQ resources.  USQ audio-visual items are available to member of USQ only.  Overdue USQ resources will incur fines.

Loan Periods

Community collection:
3 weeks for all resources

USQ collection:
1 or 2 weeks for books, USQ magazines, USQ videos and DVDs
3 hours, overnight or weekly for reserve collection items or short-term loans and are available for loan to USQ students/staff only.

Overdue Library Items
Community collection - Once an item falls overdue your borrowing privileges will be suspended until the overdue items are returned. Overdue notices are only issued by email.  Please ensure the library has your current email address. Please retain your date due slip issued to you at the time of borrowing for your record.
USQ collection - Overdue notices will be issued when an item is overdue. Your borrowing privileges will be suspended until the overdue item is returned and the fine has been paid.

Renewals / Reservations

Renewals
• Items may be renewed twice in person, by phone or online.
• Items cannot be renewed once an overdue notice has been issued, or if they are reserved for another member.

Reservations
• You may reserve items that are currently on loan, or held at another branch.  Limits apply.
• We will notify you by phone, mail or email when the item is available for borrowing.

Your Responsibilities
• Your library card must be presented when borrowing. Please notify us immediately if your library card is lost or stolen.
• Your library card is not transferable to another borrower. You will be liable for the replacement costs for lost or damaged items on your card.
• Parents/guardians are responsible for their children's use of the library including the selection and use of any library material or electronic facilities.

Fees & Charges

Book Sales (prices set locally)

Miscellaneous Sales:
Computer disc (Hervey Bay & Tiaro only): $2.65
Library bags: $4.00

Internet Services:
For library members: $2.00/hour
For non-library members: $5.50/hour
Half hour rate is available for members and non-members
Wireless access: $2.00/hour                                                                                                                    

Printing Costs:
$0.20 cents per sheet B&W
$1.40 per sheet colour (if available)
$3.40 per sheet large graphics
Microfilm/Microfiche:
Printings costs per page (B&W): 40 cents
Historical microfilm copy - Maryborough only (set by Historical Society): 80 cents.

Children's Activities:
$2.50 per child, per session unless otherwise stated
 
Visitor Membership:
Free membership to visitors with a Queensland residential address, allowing 10 items to be borrowed at a time.
$24.00 non-refundable fee, allowing 10 items to be borrowed at a time, for visitors from outside Queensland.
 
Inter-Library Loans:
A fee may be incurred by the lending library.  Borrowers are notified in advance of charges before loan is processed further.
 
Photocopying:
Local branch charge, limited by copy machines available.
 
Meeting Rooms:
Seminar Room (Maryborough only): $14.00 / hour
Seminar Room (Maryborough only): $96.00 / day
Seminar Room (Maryborough only): $36 / hour after business hours                                                    
Overdue Fines:
Community Material: 10 cents per item / day
USQ per item, per day (set by USQ)
 
Lost/Damaged Resources:
Replacement cost and $7.50 administration fee
 
Toy Library Membership (Maryborough only - Hervey Bay incorporated in main library):          
Special needs membership (Healthcare card or disability allowance holder): $28.00 / year
Playgrounds/Hospital/Homecare Membership: $155.00 / year
Community/General Membership: $75.00 / year
Lost/Damaged items: replacement cost.

While access to information is a free service to all patrons, certain value-added services do have associated fees & charges as per this list.
The schedule of fees & charges is set by Council by resolution from time to time.
