Fraser Coast Regional Council has approved Part Three of the proposed Fraser Coast Airports Master Plan.
Councillors voted at today’s general meeting (Wednesday 7th March) to endorse the plan, including the Maryborough Airport Aviation Noise Exposure Forecast (ANEF) following the 60 day public consultation period.
Mayor Mick Kruger said Part Three of the plan provides a guide for the future development of the Maryborough Airport.
“The development of commercial precincts surrounding the Maryborough Airport will support economic viability and attract new aviation and non-aviation market and business opportunities to the region.”
These include flying school operations, charter operations supporting the mining industry, aircraft servicing and maintenance, general aviation hangars, a residential airpark and retail outlets.
“The Fraser Coast Airport Master Plan provides a clear planning framework for maximising the development of the Fraser Coast Airports over the next 20 years,” Cr Kruger said.
