Council is urging all local sports, recreation and community groups to take advantage of its innovative media and event management seminars.

The Community, Sport and Recreation Workshop Series will cover all aspects of successful media relations, including building a database of reliable contacts, drafting successful media releases and preparing for media attention.

Mayor Mick Kruger said the free workshop is a great opportunity for local clubs and should not be missed.

“The workshops series will also cover event planning, risk management, and volunteer training and legislation.”

“And let’s not forget, the presenter is second to none.”

Host Leisa Donlan has more than 15 years experience in the non-profit sector, including involvement in every type of committee role across more than 110 different committees, including sport and community groups.

Leisa also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Psychology) and is a fellow of the Australian Society of Association of Executives.

The Workshop will be held next Tuesday (March 20) at the Hervey Bay Boat Club, starting at 5.30pm.
