Clean up Australia day winners
John Williams will be able to watch his favourite football matches a little better thanks to his efforts helping to clean up around Eli Creek at Hervey Bay.
Mr Williams won a 42inch LCD television donated by Recycle and Reuse on Clean Up Australia day.
All of the 250 volunteers who gave up their time on a wet Sunday, March 4, went into a draw for the television, a portable stereo and digital camera.
Rhonda Adamson, who cleaned up along the foreshore around Bill Fraser Park in Hervey Bay won the portable stereo and Jill Rakich who helped clean up and plant trees near Pier Park won the digital camera.
Just on 250 volunteers helped clean up 45 sites across the region.
The small army collected 50 bags of materials that could be recycled and more than 40 cubic metres of rubbish, or enough to fill a large backyard swimming pool.
