Council is once again proud to be a major sponsor of the Fraser Coast Cultural Festival, with performers at this year’s celebrations, starting at 6.30pm on Friday March 16, hailing from all corners of the globe.
Local Butchulla people will kick off the festivities at Wetside Water Park with the traditional ‘Welcome to the Country’, followed by exciting performances from Brazilian dance and drum troupe Bahia Alegria, The Indonesian Dance Group and ‘The Tall Tenor’ James Corona.
The $20 entry fee includes all performances, finger food and a complimentary drink but bookings are essential on 4325 4241
African drumming group Baala Baajo will also host workshops in Maryborough and Hervey Bay during the week, call 4128 7225 for more information.
Celebrations continue on Saturday, March 24 with a gala performance at the Brolga Theatre in Maryborough starting at 7pm.
“The gala show features a host of quality performers including Obertas from Poland, Heimdal from Germany, Nordic act Kupaleja, Baala Baajo African Drummers, Pacific Islanders, Colombian dancers, The Tall Tenor plus several local and school performances,” festival secretary Hans Kronemeyer said.

“It all culminates with the free ‘Festival in the Park’ on Sunday (March 25) with the Parade of Nations, four stages of continuous cultural entertainment and more than 60 arts, craft and food stalls.
“It really can’t be missed.”
