Bauple RV stopover

27 February 2012

Work has started on the RV stopover at Bauple.

The project, which aims to entice drive tourists to linger longer is being constructed in the centre of the village. It was chosen after consultation with the community.

Facilities planned at the site will eventually include a transit stop for bus passengers, interpretive signage on Bauple’s history, waste management facilities and shaded picnic areas.

The site is in the centre of the village so visitors can easily explore nearby attractions, including the museum, arts and craft gallery and access the nearby national park.

Construction of stage one has finished. The work included the overnight parking area for RVs and self-contained caravans.

Stage two will include the bus stop and picnic areas.

The state government has allocated $50,000 towards the $110,000 project.
