A temporary footpath connecting the residential areas of River Heads to the boat ramp will be built along Ariadne Street.
Council at its meeting today (Wednesday February 15) agreed to include a temporary footpath as part of a future upgrade to Ariadne Street.
For the footpath to go ahead the Council will have to negotiate with the Department of Resource Management (DERM) to relocate the road reserve to cover the existing roadway and proposed footpath and protect a vulnerable plant, Samadera bidwilli, which has been found on the site.
Once the reserve has been relocated Council will start detailed design plans for a future upgrade of Ariadne Street and the footpath.
In the interim Council will investigate building a temporary footpath along the north-west side of Ariadne Street. Bollards would also be installed to separate vehicles and pedestrians.
