A pest is any animal or plant that has an adverse economic, environmental or social impact on a particular place. Pest plants and pest animals affect the lives of all Queenslanders. They degrade our natural resources, damage precious remnant vegetation, compromise biodiversity and interfere with human health and recreation.

The Land Protection (Pest and Stock Route Management) Act 2002 and the Land Protection (Pest and Stock Route Management) Regulation 2003 provide legislative measures for the management of pest plants and pest animals and stock routes throughout Queensland.

• Declared pest animals such as feral pigs and wild dogs
• Declared pest plants such as rat tail grass and mother of million
• Environmental weeds such as Mother-in-law's Tongue, Murraya and Purple Succulent
