Children and Young People
The libraries run school holiday activities during every school break (except Easter) for children aged 3 to 16. Bring your children along to the libraries for some fun creative activities. Each session is based on a theme.
The Summer Reading Club is held during the December/January holidays to encourage young people to read over the summer holidays. Each participant agrees to read ten books over the holiday period.
Rattle & Rhyme is a lap sit programme designed for parents and their child under 2 years of age. The 30 minute sessions include songs, rhymes and a story to encourage interaction with your baby in a relaxed environment.
Storytime is our popular program of stories, songs and craft activities for children aged 2 to 5 years... and their grown ups
Our Junior Book Clubs meet once a month and provide opportunities for young library users to discuss books and authors. The group is facilitated by a library staff member, who helps in the selection of books and oversees the activities of the group. Members complete book reviews for each meeting, as well as participate in language games, writing and storytelling activities. Junior Book Club is open to children aged 8 to 12.
