Council has formally reviewed and addressed public submissions relating to the proposed amendments to the Hervey Bay City Planning Scheme.

At its Planning and Development meeting held on 13 April 2011, Council resolved to proceed with the amendment process with modifications to the notified Scheme. 

Submitters will be advised of the decision regarding the issue/s raised in their submission. 

A copy of the responses to submissions and a marked up copy of the Planning Scheme including the associated maps will be forwarded to the Department of Local Government and Planning for the second State interest review this week. 

Experience indicates that the State Review (following the recent machinery of government changes) is likely to take longer than the four (4) week timeframes specified in the State’s Guidelines; however Council is hopeful that the matter will be finalised within approximately 2-3 months, which will facilitate the amendments being implemented in the second half of this year.
