Waste Services Fees and Charges

The Queensland Government has introduced a Waste Levy to all commercial, industrial, construction, and demolition waste that is disposed of at landfill, effective 1 December 2011.

The Waste Levy will be an additional fee to the current Council waste disposal rates.

If the levy effects your business, you may be eligible to apply for a subsidy or rebate through the Department of Environmental Resource Management.  For more information on this program visit www.derm.qld.gov.au

All objections to the Waste Levy should be directed to your Local State Government Member - Hervey Bay: Ted Sorensen - 4124 1386, Maryborough & Tiaro: Chris Foley - 4122 2277.

Domestic Waste Disposal

Weekly general rubbish and fortnightly recycling collections are provided by Council in most areas.

On your collection day please ensure your bins are placed on the kerb by 6am (or place them out the night before).  Face the lid openings to the road, no more than a metre from the kerb or road edge, and at least one metre apart when there is more than one bin.

Large domestic items, commercial, industrial and hazardous waste should not be put in the domestic bins. These items must be disposed of at an appropriate Council Waste Disposal Facility.
