The purpose of the Employee Wellbeing Program is to provide the foundation for developing activities and modifying work environments, polices and practices that support the health and wellbeing for all employees.

Council offers a variety of corporate health options to staff.
Quit smoking program
As part of the Queensland Workplaces for Wellness initiative, national workplaces were identified to have a large portion of outdoor workers who smoke.
The workplace Quit Smoking Program is a structured staff program involving regular telephone counselling from the Quitline - 13 QUIT - combined with nicotine replacement therapy products.
Our annual Lifestyle Expo is staged to encourage our staff to develop a healthy lifestyle and to provide information that will assist them to make better choices, regarding health, wellbeing and lifestyle matters.
Job swap program
Council aims to encourage staff to expand their knowledge and skills. The 'job swap' program provides an opportunity for staff to gain an invaluable insight into the diverse work of Council and learn actively from a colleague about their job.
This program also aims to improve staff motivation and morale, particularly for those employees who have worked in one position for a long period, or whose job may have repetitive elements.
The upskilling program allows outdoor staff an opportunity to be skilled with appropriate licenses and/or tickets and utilise these skills and qualifications to assist with employment opportunities into the future and for personal development. The program provides opportunities for staff for career progression.
