Find out about Howard CBD drainage works
10 April, 2019
Howard residents and business owners are invited to attend a public information session on Tuesday 16 April to learn about the town’s CBD drainage improvements starting on Friday 26 April.
Fraser Coast Councillor James Hansen said Council and contractor representatives would be at the Burrum Community Centre in Steley Street from 5.30pm to answer questions relating to the project.
“Attendees can find out the contractor’s staging plans including day and night works, car parking, street closures, access to shops and communications,” Cr Hansen said.
“This is an important project for the people of Howard that will improve drainage capacity and ease minor flooding that can shut the CBD and main access road through the town.”
Cr Chapman said the CBD drainage project involved installing new underground stormwater pipes along William Street between Prosper and Steley Streets, with a new outlet along Burrum Street through the existing park to Maria Creek.
“Unfortunately there will be some traffic interruptions while the work is in progress but we’ll do our best to keep roads open and traffic flowing,” Cr Chapman said.
Work is expected to finish in mid-July, weather permitting.
A Wide Bay Water representative will also attend the information session to provide information on the Howard Sewerage Project.
