Gatakers Boat ramp channel to be dredged
30 November, 2018
The Gatakers Bay boat ramp will be closed for four days for maintenance dredging to be undertaken on the boat channel from on Monday, 3 December.
The channel will be dredged to improve navigation at low tide.
The work is being co-ordinated by the Fraser Coast Regional Council on behalf of the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR).
A long-reach excavator will be used to move the silt along the channel to the base of the boat ramp where it will be taken by road about 300m west to the former ramp to replenish the erosion scarp.
While the ramp will be closed during the work, the Esplanade will remain open under traffic control when the trucks are moving.
Works are scheduled to start on Monday 3 December and anticipated to take four days, weather permitting.
Works to remove sediment from around the base of the ramp finished in early September 2018.
