Information for communities

The spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and the response to it is rapidly evolving. Fraser Coast Regional Council is committed to supporting Queensland Health as the lead agency responding to novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and will ensure our community is kept informed.

Community Recovery hotline
If you have no other means of getting food or essential items, call 1800 173 349

The Community Recovery Hotline is also available to support vulnerable Queenslanders in home quarantine who have no other means of support.

If you are feeling lonely, sad or overwhelmed or would simply like someone to chat with, call 1300 711 311. There are caring people waiting to take your call.

  • Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service is opening COVID-19 vaccination hubs in community locations from 10 May 2021.

    This is to support the ongoing implementation of Queensland’s COVID-19 vaccination program, and to supplement the rollout being led by the primary sector.

    The fixed community hubs will be located in Maryborough, Hervey Bay and Bundaberg, and WBHHS vaccination teams will also conduct outreach clinics across the region as they are able.

    More financial support for Coronavirus affected job seekers - The Australian Government has announced more payments and streamlined claims for job seekers affected by Coronavirus.

  • Queensland Disability Network has been working with the Queensland Government to make sure people with disability have access to the information and resources they need to prepare for the evolving COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Special Benefit - A payment if you are in severe financial hardship and cannot receive income support from Centrelink.

  • Funding is available for Queenslanders who have lost their job due to the impacts of COVID-19 and who do not have access to other financial assistance.

    The COVID-19 Rental Grant is a one-off payment of up to 4 weeks rent (maximum of $2000) available to those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic who do not have access to other financial assistance. More information is available here.

  • If you have concerns about your health, contact 13 HEALTH (13 432 584). If you have symptoms of the virus and have travelled overseas in the past 14 days, or had close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 Coronavirus, see a doctor. Call ahead and mention your symptoms and travel (or contact) so they can prepare for your visit.

    If you are registered as being in quarantine in Queensland, and need essential supplies with no other means to access them, contact the Community Recovery Hotline on 1800 173 349.

    If you are a National Disability Insurance Service (NDIS) participant and you are concerned about your exposure to COVID-19, call 1800 020 080 (24 hours a day, seven days a week) for the Department of Health’s NDIS hotline.

  • Red Cross offers practical tips to maintain your wellbeing and manage isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Schools and community kindergartens will move to a home-based learning model from 20 April until at least 22 May 2020.

    During this period, all students who are able to be supervised at home and learn from home are to stay home, except for vulnerable students and children of essential workers.

    This decision to operate under a home-based learning model will apply for at least the first five weeks of Term 2, and a further decision will be made regarding the second half of Term 2 by mid-May.
