Coastal futures: Planning our changing coastline Coastal futures: Planning our changing coastline

The Coastal Futures: Planning Our Changing Coastline project is all about getting ready for the short, medium and long-term impacts of coastal hazards.

From Burrum Heads in the north, Tinnanbar in the south, and all coastal areas in between, this project will identify the current and future impacts of storm tides, inundation and coastal erosion.

The Coastal Futures: Planning Our Changing Coastline project will use this information to investigate how the community can become more resilient to the impacts of these coastal hazards.

It will develop a strategy to plan for, protect, or mitigate the impacts on:

  • Community infrastructure - such as boat ramps, piers, footpaths and playgrounds near the coast;
  • Environmental assets - such as remnant or significant vegetation along the foreshore;
  • Businesses and workplaces; and,
  • Indigenous and cultural assets.
