150th Anniversary Commemoration - Maryborough Monumental Cemetery
Maryborough Monumental Cemetery celebrates its Sesquicentennial.
We invite you to join us on this momentous occasion.
In honour of this 150th anniversary, a day of commemoration, on Wednesday, 21 June 2023, will be held as a mark of respect for those buried within the grounds and their collective contribution to the history they and the Cemetery have played in shaping the Maryborough community.
The day will begin with a commemoration service from 9.00 am followed by an offer of tours outlining several historically significant persons and specialist activities to assist the public in ongoing care and connection to their loved ones.
A dedication for Charles Henry Crystall, who was part of the contracting firm Crystall and Armstrong, who built many of Maryborough’s city buildings, with the pinnacle being Maryborough City Hall, will also be conducted.
To finish the day, the Friends of the Cemetery and Maryborough District Family History Society will conduct a relaxed Q&A to assist you with any questions relative to the history of the area or insight into genealogy. The commemorative day will end at 2.00 pm.
A small complimentary morning tea will be provided after the commemoration, and a selection of food and beverages will be available for purchase during lunch.
