Event or Activity application process

STEP BY STEP GUIDES

Please note: applications for events and activities must be submitted a minimum of six (6) weeks prior to the event

  • What is an temporary entertainment event?

    • An event that is open to the public for entertainment whether or not a charge for admission is made and whether or not the person who controls admission reserves a right to refuse entry.
    • Entertainment includes recreational and amusement activities.
    • A temporary entertainment event can occur on both public and private property.
    • Apply below by selecting the relevant land use.
  • STEP 1: View Council's available public places

    STEP 2: Gather your documents (including but not limited to)

    • Site map (showing the placement of all infrastructure, entertainment and amenities).
    • Public Liability Insurance Certificate of Currency noting Fraser Coast Regional Council as an interested party.
    • NOTE: You may be required to provide further information including food vending/alcohol permits, special effect permits, management plans ect (this will be noted on the application form dependant on the type of event).


    STEP 3: Complete the online application form

    STEP 4: Assessment

    • Once your application and all supporting documents have been submitted, the application will be reviewed and assessed under Subordinate Local Law 1 (Administration) Schedule 1.
    • Council will consult with key stakeholders.
    • Depending on the type, scope and scale of the event, an application could take up to six (6) weeks to assess providing all the relevant information has been provided. Please note, high impact events take up to six (6) months.
    • Through the assessment process you may be contacted by our officers for further infomation.
  • Some events or activities on private land may require you to apply for a permit. This will also depend on if the land or location has the correct approval under the Planning Scheme.

    Council assesses applications on private land to ensure they are carried out safely and are considerate of others and the surrounding environment.

    • Written concent from the land owner/lessee.
    • Public Liability Insurance Certificate of Currency noting Fraser Coast Regional Council as an interested party.
    • NOTE: You may be required to provide further information including food vending/alcohol permits, special effect permits, management plans ect (this will be noted on the application form dependant on the type of event).

  • This means the use of a local government controlled area or road for soliciting or carrying on the supply of goods and services (including food or drink) for profit.

    APPLICATION FORM

    • You can apply for an annual permit for events/activities that occur multiple times throughout a 12 month period.
    • Annual permits are issued per financial year but can be applied for at any point throughout the year
    • These can apply to both public land or private land use (you will be asked to specify this in the application form).

  • All street performance artists operating within the Fraser Coast region require an approval from Council.
