Proposal to remove/alter a place in the Local Heritage Register

Under Part 11 of the Queensland Heritage Act 1992 it is proposed to remove/alter the following place in the Local Heritage Register:

South Sea Islander Hospital and Cemetery, Bluebell Road East, Tinana (Place ID 147) - also known as Pacific Islander Hospital and Cemetery on the Queensland Heritage Register (QHR 650053).

It is proposed that portions of Lot 5 M371033 on Lot 1, RP880020 be removed from the Fraser Coast Local Heritage Register as they do not meet the heritage criteria for listing. It is proposed that the local heritage boundaries reflect the State boundaries.

The proposed place cards and the Local Heritage Register are available for inspection at Council’s Customer Service Centres or online at www.frasercoast.qld.gov.au/local-heritage-register

Written submissions about the proposal must be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer,

Fraser Coast Regional Council, PO Box 1943, Hervey Bay QLD 4655 or submitted via email to heritage@frasercoast.qld.gov.au

The submission must be made on the basis that the place is or is not a place of cultural heritage significance for the Fraser Coast Region.

Submissions are to be lodged by 4.45pm on Thursday 9th September 2021.
