Council grants support community projects and events

Fraser Coast Regional Council will provide more than $80,000 in grants to help nine local community groups improve their facilities and to support 11 community events such as a Children’ s Halloween Celebration, a Business Showcase and softball state championships.

Councillor Phil Truscott said the grants had been approved under Round Two of Council’ s 2019/20 Community Projects and Community Events grants programmes.

“Council’s grants schemes offer a range of opportunities for groups to apply for funding for projects and events that help ensure we have a vibrant and active community on the Fraser Coast,”  he said.

“It’s wonderful to see so many community-driven activities being organised across the region and Council is pleased to be able to support community groups to develop their facilities and events.

“We all owe so much to the many volunteers who keep these clubs and groups functioning. They do a remarkable job and provide us with entertainment and vital services.”

The grants for some of the community events were made in anticipation of a relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions. Council will work with the groups if the events cannot go ahead as planned.
