Health Leadership Program

Back

Fraser Coast Regional Council welcomed 20 successful existing and emerging leaders to the Health Leadership Program last week as part of the Fraser Coast Regional Skills Investment Strategy.

Local employers referred staff from the Aged Care, NDIS, Disability, Community and Hospital sectors.  Following the selection process, 12 organisations are participating in the Health Leadership program and 20 staff have been selected to undertake the pilot program. Over 60 expressions of interest were received from across the region.

Participants attended two training days that incorporated a Leadership Toolkit provided by GreenX7 at the Brolga Theatre, together with accredited training induction with College Australia that was held in the Wide Bay Hospital and Health auditorium.

This program is fully funded under the Higher Level Skills Program. The Queensland Government’s Department of Employment Small Business and Training recently approved Fraser Coast Regional Council to trial a tailored training solution for health care and social assistance workers employed in the Fraser Coast local government area.

Delivery of a flexible program will allow existing workers to undertake professional development towards a formal qualification and provide valuable leadership skills to the health sector.  The qualification reflects the role of individuals who work in a senior operational or team leading roles in the health industry.
