A Council petition is a formal written request signed by at least 10 people, asking Council to take action on a particular issue or expressing support or objection to a decision or matter.
Petitions relating to an active development application during the public notification stage will be treated as formal submissions on the application.
Petition Requirements
In line with Fraser Coast Regional Council’s Meeting Procedures and Standing Orders(PDF, 499KB), all petitions must:
- Be legible (handwritten or typed) and contain at least 10 signatures
- Include the name and contact details of the principal petitioner (organiser)
- List the postcode of every petitioner
- Have the petition request clearly stated on each page
How do I submit a petition to Council?
It is recommended to use the Petition Lodgement Form(PDF, 1MB) to ensure all required information is included.
Once your petition is ready, you can submit it to Council via any of the following options:
- In person: Submit at any Council Customer Service Centre
- By post: PO Box 1943, Hervey Bay QLD 4655
- Through your Divisional Councillor
- By email: enquiry@frasercoast.qld.gov.au
An e-petition or online petition will be accepted but must be downloaded and submitted via one of the above options.
