Fraser Coast Regional Council has appointed experienced executive leader Ria Leason as its new Director Organisational Services and Transformation.
The directorate is responsible for a range of services that support Council operations, including finance, customer service, people and safety, governance, information technology and organisational improvement.
Chief Executive Officer Mica Martin said Ms Leason would join Council on 14 July 2026, bringing extensive experience from a range of large international organisations.
"Ria has held senior leadership roles with organisations including Zurich, Allianz and Gallagher Bassett, where she has led large-scale organisational improvement and transformation programs across Australia and New Zealand," Ms Martin said.
"As the Fraser Coast continues to grow, Council must continue improving the way we operate and deliver services to the community.
"Ria's experience will help us ensure Council remains efficient, responsive and well placed to meet future challenges and opportunities."
Ms Martin said the appointment completed the recruitment of Council's Executive Leadership Team.
"Over the past year we have welcomed several new executive leaders with a mix of local government and private sector experience, and this appointment completes our executive team," she said.
“Together, they will help lead the organisation as we continue to invest in critical infrastructure, strengthen Council’s capability and prepare for the needs of our growing community.”
Ms Leason said she was looking forward to joining Council and contributing to the region's future.
"The Fraser Coast is a region with enormous potential and I am excited to join an organisation that plays such an important role in supporting the community," she said.
"I look forward to working with Councillors and staff to continue building a strong organisation that delivers efficient, effective and responsive services for residents."
Ms Martin also acknowledged Executive Manager Financial Services Marion Millard, who has acted in the role over the past six months.
"Marion has done an outstanding job leading the directorate during this transition period," she said.
"Her leadership, professionalism and commitment have helped maintain momentum on a number of important projects, and I am deeply grateful for the support she has provided to both the organisation and me personally during my transition into the role of Chief Executive Officer."
