Free hip hop and circus workshops hit Fraser Coast
Published on 31 March 2026
Free hip hop dance and circus skills workshops are coming to the Fraser Coast, with registrations now open for the new Fraser Coast Youth Moves program.
Fraser Coast Regional Council will deliver the program across Maryborough, Burrum Heads, River Heads and Bauple, giving young people the chance to learn new skills in a fun and supportive environment.
Deputy Mayor Sara Diana Faraj said it was the first time workshops like this had been offered across the region.
“These free workshops are a great way for young people to get active, build confidence and try something new in a supportive environment,” she said.
“Whether it’s learning new dance moves or giving circus skills a go, it’s all about having fun, meeting new people and building skills along the way.
“Hip hop workshops will introduce participants to rhythm, choreography and freestyle movement, helping build confidence, coordination and creative expression.
“Circus workshops will explore fun and accessible skills such as hula hoops, juggling, balance activities and balloon tricks, encouraging creativity, movement and teamwork.”
Cr Faraj said the program is designed to be inclusive, social and beginner-friendly, encouraging young people to get active, try something new and connect with others.
“Workshops are open to young people aged 5 to 17 and will run from 11.30am to 1pm over a 16-week program starting Saturday, 18 April,” she said.
“Each location will host four sessions, including two hip hop workshops and two circus skills workshops.
“Kids can register for multiple sessions in hip hop or circus skills, giving them even more chances to develop new talents.”
Program schedule:
- Bauple Recreation Hall – Saturday, 18 April to Saturday, 20 June
- Burrum Heads Hall – Saturday, 2 May to Saturday, 4 July
- Maryborough City Hall – Saturday, 16 May to Saturday, 18 July
- River Heads Hall – Saturday, 30 May to Saturday, 1 August
Cr Faraj said these workshops are fully funded by Council and are an investment in our young people, helping them build skills, confidence and connections for the future.
“Registrations are limited to 30 participants per session, so residents are encouraged to book early.”
