Fraser Coast residents are being encouraged to complete the 2026 Census to help ensure the region’s growth and changing needs are reflected in future planning decisions.
Held every five years, the Census provides a snapshot of who we are and how our communities are changing, helping governments, businesses and community organisations plan for the future.
Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said the Census was an important opportunity for everyone across the region to help ensure the community is represented.
“Whether you are a long-term resident, new to the region, living in a retirement village, renting or part of one of our many diverse communities, your household counts and every response matters,” he said.
“Every Census response helps build a better understanding of who lives here and helps ensure the needs of our growing region are reflected when decisions are made about the future.”
Cr Seymour said population data was particularly important for a growing region like the Fraser Coast.
“More people are choosing to live, work and invest in the Fraser Coast, and this growth needs to be accurately captured,” he said.
“The Census helps ensure governments have the information they need to plan for the services, infrastructure and investment our communities need now and in the years to come.”
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Census will be held on Tuesday 11 August 2026, with most households receiving instructions to complete their Census online. Paper forms will also be available for people who prefer this option.
