Nine local parks getting a refresh

Nine neighbourhood parks across the Fraser Coast will receive small but important improvements over the coming weeks, with Council replacing ageing playground equipment and barbecues to keep community facilities safe and reliable.
Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said the works were part of Council’s ongoing effort to look after the parks residents use every day.
“Parks are a valued part of community life on the Fraser Coast, and these improvements will help ensure they continue to be safe, welcoming places for residents and visitors,” he said.
“Whether it’s children playing, families sharing a barbecue or residents enjoying their local park, these spaces bring communities together and support outdoor lifestyles.”
Several worn playground items identified during routine inspections will be replaced with modern equipment that meets current safety standards and is designed for long-term use.
The playground equipment replacements are taking place at:
- Bellert Park, Howard – play tower
- Craignish Park – play tower
- ESA Park, Point Vernon – spinner
- RA Hunter Park, Maryborough – swings
- Aldershot Park – swings
Council is also replacing ageing public barbecues at several parks with new, durable, wheelchair-accessible models.
The barbecue replacements will be carried out at:
- Bill Fraser Park, Torquay
- Fixter Park, Toogoom
- River Heads Community Hall Park
- Scarness Foreshore Park.
Works will be delivered by Council crews, with the minor playground upgrades starting this month and expected to be completed by May, weather permitting.
Barbecue replacements began in late February and are expected to be completed by April.
