Mayor George Seymour at Hervey Bay Airport

Hervey Bay Airport has marked a record-breaking October as Jetstar launches a three-day sale offering flights from $100 flights between Hervey Bay and Melbourne (Tullamarine).

Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said October was the airport’s strongest month on record, with 21,654 passengers travelling through the terminal across services to Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Lady Elliot Island.

“These numbers are fantastic news for the Fraser Coast”, he said.

“Demand on the Melbourne and Sydney routes continues to surge, with both services averaging 92 per cent of seats filled.

“Between July and September, 35,731 passengers travelled on these services, with 12,445 passengers recorded in October - a 7.26 per cent increase on the previous month.”

Cr Seymour said it’s exciting to see such strong growth in passenger numbers and rising interest in the Fraser Coast.

“It shows that more people are choosing to visit, do business here and stay connected with our region, which is fantastic for our local economy and community,” he said.

“To build on this momentum, Jetstar’s three-day sale gives locals the chance to fly to Melbourne and home again for just $100 each way.”

The sale starts today and runs until 3 December, with two travel periods available:
• 29 April – 24 June 2026
• 22 July – 16 September 2026

Look out for Sydney flights on sale in the coming weeks.

Cr Seymour said Jetstar remains the only commercial airline offering direct flights from Hervey Bay to both Melbourne and Sydney.

“Supporting these services helps boost tourism, local jobs and the economy,” he said.

“They keep families and friends connected while opening the door for more visitors to experience the Fraser Coast - from World Heritage-listed K’gari and world-class whale watching to our many other incredible attractions.

“The record month follows recent expansions by the airlines. Since October, Qantas has reinstated early morning and evening flights between Hervey Bay and Brisbane, while Jetstar has increased services to both Melbourne and Sydney.”

Mayor Seymour said the extra capacity arrives at the perfect time leading into Christmas.

“The additional Jetstar flights add more than 38,000 low-fare seats each year, making it easier than ever for people to experience the stunning Fraser Coast,” he said.

“It’s fantastic for our region as these services not only increase connectivity but offer greater convenience for business travellers who need same-day return trips to Brisbane.”
