The following can be attributed to Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour:

“The news that the Fraser Coast Hospice is moving towards voluntary administration is deeply concerning for our community.

“Since opening its doors in 2021, the Hospice has provided compassionate end-of-life care and support to more than 800 local families, giving patients dignity, comfort and care during some of life's most difficult moments.

“This facility exists because of an extraordinary community effort.

“The Australian Government funded the construction, the Queensland Government has provided ongoing operational funding, Fraser Coast Regional Council provided the land, and countless volunteers, donors, sponsors and community members have helped sustain its operations.

“The Hospice has become an important part of the Fraser Coast's healthcare and community support network, and I know many residents will be saddened by this news.

“I have written to both the Queensland Minister for Health and the Federal Minister for Health urging them to explore every possible pathway to help secure the future of this vital service.

“Council stands with the patients, families, staff, volunteers, donors and board members who have worked tirelessly to build and support the Hospice.

“The Fraser Coast Hospice was built by this community, for this community, and it deserves every opportunity to continue its important work.”
