Proposed amendments to the Fraser Coast Planning Scheme and new LGIP

In accordance with the requirements of section 20 of the Planning Act 2016, Fraser Coast Regional Council provides notice of public consultation on Proposed Amendments to the Fraser Coast Planning Scheme Version 11 (current planning scheme) and the introduction of a new Local Government Infrastructure Plan (LGIP). 

The overall purpose and general effect of the Proposed Amendments is to: 

  • Reflect Council’s programs of works identified through the 10 year statutory review of the planning scheme; 
  • Introduce a new LGIP to support future growth and infrastructure planning across the region; and
  • Apply to the whole of the local government area. 

Public Consultation Period 
The consultation period for the Proposed Amendments is from 27 February 2026 to 1 May 2026.

Inspection of Documents 
During the public consultation period, any person may view and download the proposed amendments and proposed LGIP on Council’s website, or view and purchase a copy at Council’s Customer Service Centres:

  • 77 Tavistock Street, Hervey Bay 
  • 211-213 Adelaide Street, Maryborough 

Submissions 
Any person may make a submission about any aspect of the Proposed Amendments and the proposed LGIP during the consultation period. A properly made submission must: 

  • Be in writing (including by electronic means); 
  • Include the full name and residential or business address of each person making the submission; 
  • State a postal or electronic address for service of a response to the submission; 
  • Be signed by each person making the submission (unless made electronically); 
  • State the grounds of the submission and the fact sheets and circumstances relied on in support of the grounds; 
  • Be made to Fraser Coast Regional Council; and 
  • Be received by Council on or before 11:55pm Friday 1 May 2026.
