Butterfly Spotting Botanical Walk - BGANZ Week

Next date: Wednesday, 20 May 2026 | 09:00 AM to 10:00 AM

Hervey Bay Botanic Gardens
Take a break from the rush of everyday life and reconnect with nature at the Hervey Bay Botanic Gardens during a guided Butterfly Spotting Botanical Walk.

Held as part of Botanic Gardens Week 2026, this peaceful one-hour walk is a chance to slow down, breathe deeply and enjoy the calming benefits of being outdoors.

Explore the gardens and surrounding bushland while spotting colourful butterfly species and the plants that support them, uncovering unique local flora, and learning about the important role plants play in supporting wildlife, people and healthy ecosystems. You may even spot the elusive “left-handed vine”.

This year’s Botanic Gardens Week theme celebrates the health and wellbeing benefits of botanic gardens, making this the perfect opportunity to feel more grounded, calm and connected through nature.

Whether you love gardening, enjoy bird and butterfly spotting, or simply want a relaxing morning outdoors, this guided walk is a wonderful way to appreciate the natural beauty of the Fraser Coast.

Please wear a hat and covered shoes suitable for walking. Meet at the Orchid House inside the Hervey Bay Botanic Gardens.
