Division 6 contains the suburbs of Point Vernon, Eli Waters, and part of Pialba.
Councillor Lachlan Cosgrove was born and raised in Maryborough, attending Granville State School and Maryborough State High School, graduating as School Captain in 2006.
Post school, Lachlan held strong interests in both journalism and law, initially beginning a cadetship at the Fraser Coast Chronicle, but soon shifting paths after being selected for the Commonwealth Attorney-General’s Department Inaugural Traineeship Program in Canberra.
A life-changing health diagnosis in 2011 led Lachlan to defer his law studies and return home to Maryborough, ultimately leading to an unexpected opportunity in reality TV. This experience sparked a passion for broadcasting, leading him to pursue a career in radio, which took him across various roles between 2012 to 2019 and ultimately shaped his career direction.
Lachlan spent nearly five years as a breakfast radio host broadcasting to the Fraser Coast community on 101.9FM — first under the Sea FM brand, and later as part of the rebranded Hit Network. Throughout that time, he co-hosted and co-produced a daily show heard across his hometown and the Fraser Coast region he now proudly represents as Councillor.
Lachlan was elected to the Fraser Coast Regional Council in 2024, representing Division 6, where he purchased his first home in Point Vernon in 2020.
