Although geographically one of the smaller divisions of the Fraser Coast Regional Council, Division 6 (350kB) is one of the most densely populated with more than 8700 voters. It contains the suburbs of Point Vernon, Eli Waters, and part of Pialba.
David Lewis has been on Council since 2016. He is a lawyer by profession, holding a Bachelor of Arts (Government) and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland. He has lived in Hervey Bay since 1976, and ran his own practice for many years. He also served as a part-time Member of the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal. He has served as chair, committee and member of many community and sporting organisations, as well as a director of Hervey Bay’s Community Bank.
Since being elected, he has had a special interest in the Arts and Culture and Environment sectors, as well as with governance issues. He has been instrumental in revitalisation of the Mary to Bay Rail Trail project.
David lives with his wife Susan, and has two adult children. His leisure pursuits include sailing, where he competes regularly, locally and at various regattas.
