Oleander Park new playground equipment and riding track

What happened

Council has upgraded the playground and surrounding facilities at Oleander Park in Kawungan/Scarness to create a more modern, inclusive and active space for the community.

The upgrade includes:

  • New playground equipment
  • Shaded sand play area
  • Concrete bike track
  • Multi-use half court
  • Accessible car park

Why

The existing playground had reached the end of its useful life and was replaced to better meet the needs of local families and park users.

The final design reflects feedback received from the community during consultation in 2025.

When

Construction started start in late February 2026 and was completed in June.

Cost

The project cost $448,000 and was funded through Council’s 2025/26 Capital Delivery Program.

Community impact

The playground and surrounding construction was closed while works are underway to ensure public safety.
