What’s happening
Council is upgrading the playground and surrounding facilities at Oleander Park in Kawungan/Scarness to create a more modern, inclusive and active space for the community.

Why
The existing playground has reached the end of its useful life and is being replaced to better meet the needs of local families and park users.
The final design reflects feedback received from the community during consultation in 2025.
When
Construction is expected to start in late February 2026 and be completed by the end of April 2026, weather permitting.
Cost
The project is estimated to cost $444,000 and is funded through Council’s 2025/26 Capital Delivery Program.
Community impact
The playground and surrounding construction area will be temporarily closed while works are underway to ensure public safety.
