Hervey Bay Community Hub

A new place for community connection, learning and support

The Hervey Bay Community Hub will be a major new facility on the Fraser Coast, bringing together a modern library, Council services, community spaces and a Disaster Resilience Centre in one central location.

Located on the corner of Torquay Road and Main Street, the Hub will create a welcoming place for residents, visitors and community groups to connect, learn and access services.

More information about the Hub and its opening will be shared as the project progresses.

Project overview

The Hervey Bay Community Hub is designed to support the needs of our growing community.

Bringing key services and facilities together will make it easier for people to access support, take part in programs and use modern community spaces.

The Hub will:

  • Improve access to Council services
  • Provide modern community spaces
  • Support learning, creativity and connection
  • Strengthen disaster preparedness
  • Help revitalise the Hervey Bay city centre

Key features

The Hub will include:

  • A new larger library over two floors
  • Council customer service centre
  • Community meeting and event spaces
  • Council chambers
  • Disaster Resilience Centre
  • Public gathering areas

A new library for the Fraser Coast

Project progress

Project status: Construction underway

Expected completion: Second half of 2026

Updates will be shared as more details become available.

Parking

The Hub will include a basement car park for visitors and users, with additional on-street parking available nearby.

Council has already added more parking in the city centre, including a 170-bay car park near the current library and PCYC.

Parking will continue to be monitored once the Hub opens, and adjustments will be considered if needed.

Flood safety

The building has been designed with flood resilience in mind.

Based on Council’s flood modelling, the ground floor sits above a one-in-500-year flood level.

During construction, the basement experienced flooding during an extreme rain event while works were incomplete.

The completed building will meet all current planning and engineering standards for flood resilience.
