Pier Park Upgrades

What’s happening

Work will start at Pier Park, Urangan to improve the area near the stage. The project includes:

  • A new concrete hardstand area to replace existing paved sections
  • Electrical upgrades
  • New landscaping works
  • New seating around the existing tree (tree seating) to protect and keep the tree
  • Pole seating added within the hardstand area

These upgrades will make the space easier to use in all weather and improve the look and function of the area for visitors and events.

Why

The grass area in front of the stage has been difficult to maintain. The upgrades will:

  • Improve access for everyone, including during wet weather
  • Make the space more suitable for events such as markets
  • Improve the appearance of Pier Park
  • Respond to feedback from the community and Council staff
  • Protect the existing tree while creating more seating options
When

Work will begin on 13 May 2026 and is expected to finish by late June 2026, depending on weather conditions.

Who’s doing the work

The project will be completed by:

  • Oasis Landscape Construction & Fencing (landscape and hardstand works)
  • Paton’s Electrical Services (electrical upgrades)
How much will it cost

The total project cost is $203,000.

Community impact

Council has worked with regular users of the space to reduce disruption:

  • Nearby residents, businesses and groups have been informed about the project.
  • Pedestrian access will be managed to keep people safe during construction.

The existing tree at the site will remain and be protected through the installation of tree seating, while new hardstand and pole seating will provide additional places for people to sit and enjoy the area.
