Region-wide park furniture replacement program

What's happening

Council is replacing end-of-life, damaged and vandalised park furniture at six locations across the Fraser Coast as part of its region-wide Furniture Replacement Program.

Why

The works will provide safe, durable and low-maintenance park furniture while improving the presentation and functionality of public open spaces. The program will also help reduce ongoing maintenance requirements.

When

Works are scheduled to start on 25 August 2026 and be completed by the end of October 2026, weather permitting.

What

The program includes replacing:

  • two table settings at Petrie Park, Tiaro
  • one table setting at Nielsens Park Esplanade
  • one table setting at Quota Park Esplanade
  • one table setting at Pialba Foreshore Reserve
  • two park bench seats at Anzac Park, Maryborough
  • two park bench seats at Highfields Park, Urraween.

Works will include removing and disposing of existing furniture, replacing deteriorated concrete slabs where required, installing new Council-endorsed furniture and reinstating surrounding areas.

How much will it cost

The program has an estimated cost of $35,000 and will be delivered by Council's internal construction team.

Community impact

Temporary access restrictions may be required while works are underway. Council will notify residents and park users of upcoming works where required and will work to minimise impacts on park operations and bookable spaces.
