What happened

Council upgraded internal access at the Fraser Coast Sports and Recreation Precinct. Works included sealing the existing gravel service road, installing turf reinforcement matting to the maintenance shed, and constructing two new concrete paths linking the football amenities buildings.

Why

The upgrades:

  • Improve vehicle and service access

  • Provide safer, more accessible routes for players, officials and spectators

  • Reduce damage to turf and playing fields from vehicle movements

  • Support the efficient operation of a busy regional sports hub

When

  • Final design: October 2025

  • Construction: November 2025 to March 2026

  • Completed: March 2026

Who completed the work

Fraser Coast Regional Council, with funding support from the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program.

How much did it cost

The project cost $700,000.

Community impact

There were temporary changes to internal access and parking within the precinct while works are underway. Traffic management and signage was in place, and Council worked with user groups to minimise disruption.
