What’s happening

Council is building a new 2.5 metre wide concrete pathway along West Spring Way to connect the local street network to the Maryborough–Hervey Bay Rail Trail.

Why

The project will improve access for residents, making it easier and safer to walk or ride to the Rail Trail and surrounding areas.

When

  • Final design: completed April 2026
  • Construction: May to June 2026
  • Expected completion: July 2026
    (Timing may change due to weather.)

What

Works include:

  • Construction of a 2.5m wide concrete pathway
  • Installation of a new kerb ramp
  • Earthworks and drainage, including a concrete box culvert
  • Lighting, signage and linemarking
  • Vegetation trimming and removal of three trees
  • Removal of an existing fence at the pathway connection
  • Turfing and restoration of disturbed areas

How much will it cost

The project is estimated to cost $340,000.

Community impact

Residents may notice construction activity, including machinery, temporary changes to pedestrian access and some vegetation removal. A pedestrian management plan will be in place to maintain safety during works.
