Fraser Coast community groups can now apply for funding for local projects, facility improvements and festive events, with two Council grant programs opening today.
Community Grants and Festive Events Grants applications are open throughout September, with funding ranging from $500 to $5,000, depending on the program.
Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said the grants helped community organisations and volunteers continue making a difference across the region.
“Community groups are at the heart of so much that happens across the Fraser Coast, whether they are improving local facilities, running activities, supporting their members or bringing people together through events,” he said.
“These grants provide practical support to help turn good ideas into projects that benefit the wider community.
“If your organisation has a project or event in mind, I encourage you to look at the funding available and consider putting in an application.”
Communities spokesman Cr Phil Truscott said Community Grants of between $1,000 and $5,000 were available for eligible projects, with organisations able to receive up to $5,000 each financial year.
“Community Grants can support a broad range of projects, including improvements to community facilities, new equipment and activities or one-off events that provide a lasting community benefit,” he said.
“Council has also moved from four Community Grant rounds a year to two, giving community organisations clearer funding windows and more time to plan and prepare strong applications.
“The first round is open from today until 1 October, with the second round opening on 1 February 2027.”
Cr Truscott said Festive Events Grants of between $500 and $2,000 were available to help community groups hold Christmas and New Year’s Eve events between 15 November and 1 January.
“Christmas and New Year events are a great way to bring people together, and this funding can help local groups with costs such as advertising, temporary infrastructure, road closures and event programming,” he said.
“Council’s Grants team is available to support community groups through the application process, and I encourage organisations to get in touch early if they would like help understanding the guidelines, eligibility requirements or what information to include in their application.”
