Fraser Coast Regional Council is inviting expressions of interest from local leaders to help shape the region’s economic future through the newly established Fraser Coast Economic Development Alliance.

The Alliance will bring together representatives from business, tourism, education, government and community sectors to support collaboration, advocacy and long-term economic development across the region.

Fraser Coast Mayor George Seymour said the Alliance was a key action identified in Fraser Coast Futures 2036, Council’s long-term economic development strategy adopted last year.

“Fraser Coast Futures 2036 sets a bold vision for the future of our region, but achieving that vision will rely on strong partnerships across business, industry, education, government and the community,” he said.

“The Fraser Coast Economic Development Alliance is about bringing people together to identify opportunities and help advocate for regional priorities.

“We want to hear from people who are passionate about the Fraser Coast and who want to contribute to a strong, sustainable and prosperous future for the region.

“The Fraser Coast has experienced significant economic growth in recent years, and this Alliance is about making sure we continue building on that momentum together.”

Deputy Mayor and Economic Development spokesperson Lachlan Cosgrove said the Alliance would help strengthen collaboration and support future economic opportunities.

“We know the best ideas and opportunities often come through collaboration and strong local networks,” he said.

“This Alliance will provide a forum for regional leaders to contribute insight, experience and perspectives that can help shape the future direction of the Fraser Coast economy.

“We’re encouraging applications from a broad range of sectors and backgrounds because it’s important the Alliance reflects the diversity, strengths and opportunities across our region.”

Membership of the Alliance will be voluntary, with quarterly meetings expected.

Council is seeking applications from individuals with experience or leadership across:

  • Business and major employers
  • Industry and peak bodies
  • Education and training
  • Construction and property development sectors
  • Tourism and hospitality operators
  • Healthcare, medical and community services
  • Government and regional development organisations

Applications are open now and close at 5pm on Thursday 11 June 2026.
